Nokia has released design files for Nokia users being able to print their own 3D cases. Users will be able to download and use the files to print cases for their phones in 3D printing devices, after registering with Nokia.
Nokia also released a 3D printing kit to help users. This makes Nokia the first major manufacturer to openly back 3d printing. The company’s community manager Kneeland said that this was also a way for Nokia to connect with huge hardware/diy communities and engineers around the world.
3d printing is a new technology that allows users to print entirely detailed 3d objects from sheets of plastic, or plastic/composite dust/foam. Its a pioneer technology and the promises it holds, are high. However, it requires access to a 3d printer and software that can use it.
