Samsung Galaxy S IV Rumor List

samsung galaxy s4There has not been much hype about the Galaxy S IV (or the GS4) as we will refer to it as in this article. We do know that Samsung is planning to do some of their magic to the phone but as of yet the company has kept quiet those there have been some intentional slips and leaks of information thus far. So without further ado, here is the rumor list.

8-Cores

You read that right folks. Samsung, earlier this year, announced that they had in fact finished R&D on the Exynos 8-core chip, a chip that will be available for sale later this year. In case you need it to be any clearer, Samsung has intentions of selling this chip to OEM’s later this year and we all know that Samsung isn’t about to have LG or Sony drop an 8-core phone without them doing likewise. SO prep for it, 8-cores most naturally is coming to your GS4.

Bigger Screen

We’re not sure if there is a way to substantially increase the screen size without making the next Galaxy S super phone impossible to use with one hand, but rumor has it that the screen size will be increased. There is more then way to do this including curving the screen and thinning the bezel. At any rate it is something that could be done and that would usher in a screen that is possibly 5-inches.

More Pixels

There is no doubt that the war for the most pixel dense screen is still on and even though HTC currently holds the crown, there is little doubt that the next Galaxy S device will have a 1080p screen. From there we can pray and hope that this mad war stops at 4k screens. Speaking of which, certain LCD manufacturers have proof of concept 4k 5-inch screens.

Ruggedized Design

While there is little contention that today’s smartphones, with the exception of a few, are easy to break, phone manufacturers have been on the path to create sturdier design. This of course goes past the Gorilla Glass you see on the GS3 and will apply to the housing such as scratch resistant and shock resistant. While this is unconfirmed, rumor has it Samsung will beef up the durability of its GS4 which is a welcome to us seeing the iPhone 5 has done away with that stupid glass back.

Windows Phone 8 Support ?

Samsung has long been a friend to Microsoft especially with their computers and tablets. But for the longest their Windows Phone devices have been lacking. With news that Nokia sold 4 million Lumia devices, it is not surprising that the company would be looking to further strengthen their foothold by beefing up their Windows Phone offering. We’re not saying to hold your breath, but don’t be surprised if sometime this year, a Galaxy S IV Windows Phone variant pops up. Oh and by the way, Windows Phone 8 does support 1080p screens and up to 64-cores so things are good on the spec front.
